Excavator demolition shear (also called a dual-cylinder hydraulic shear) is an excavator attachment that uses two hydraulic cylinders working in sync to provide powerful, balanced cutting force. Unlike single-cylinder shears, the double-cylinder design delivers more cutting power, smoother operation, and better jaw alignment.
The YG double cylinder shear is built for heavy-duty demolition and scrap processing. It shears through:
- Rebar and reinforcing steel
- Steel beams (I-beams, H-beams, channel steel)
- Steel pipes and tubes
- Scrap cars and car bodies
- Light structural steel
- Industrial scrap metal
The dual-cylinder design provides higher shear force and stronger grip, making it ideal for the toughest cutting jobs.
YG Excavator Demolition Shear – 5 Models, One Match for Your Excavator

The first thing every buyer asks: “Will this shear work on my excavator?” YG makes five sizes, covering machines from 5 tons up to 50 tons. Focus on two things: your excavator’s weight and the size of steel you cut most often.

What Makes a YG Double Cylinder Shear Different?
- Double cylinder + synchronization mechanism. The dual-cylinder design and synchronization mechanism deliver powerful shear force while keeping the machine lightweight. This means you get maximum cutting power without overloading your excavator.
- Finnish Black Bear motor. YG uses imported Black Bear motors (from Finland). These motors feature a braking function and full 360° rotation capability. They deliver stable, reliable performance even in demanding conditions.
- Honed cylinder tubes and imported oil seals. The hydraulic cylinders use honed tubes and imported seals for long service life and short cycle times. Less downtime, more cutting.
- Imported wear-resistant alloy steel blades. The blades are made from imported wear-resistant alloy steel that resists high temperatures and deformation. They stay sharp longer and need fewer replacements.
- 360° rotation. All models feature 360° rotation – either collision-type (YG-620) or hydraulic (larger models). This allows you to position the jaws at any angle without repositioning the excavator.

Find The Right Solution For Your Job
How Does an Excavator Demolition Shear Work?
Step 1 – Position. The excavator operator positions the shear over the material to be cut. The jaws open wide – up to 801mm on the YG-4052.
Step 2 – Grip and cut. The operator activates the auxiliary hydraulic circuit. Oil flows to both cylinders simultaneously, closing the jaws with synchronized force. The blades shear through the steel.
Step 3 – Release and move. The operator opens the jaws, drops the cut piece, and moves to the next cut. Cycle time: seconds per cut.
The 360° rotation allows the operator to adjust the jaw angle without moving the excavator – essential for working in tight spaces or around obstacles.

Where Can You Use a Steel Shear for Excavator?
The YG excavator demolition shear is suitable for many applications:
- Scrap metal recycling – Cutting cars, steel beams, pipes, and mixed scrap.
- Building demolition – Cutting rebar, structural steel, and metal framing.
- Industrial dismantling – Cutting tanks, piping, and steel structures.
- Shipbreaking – Cutting steel plates and structural members.
- Bridge demolition – Cutting rebar and structural steel.
- Railway scrap processing – Cutting rails and track components.
The shear also handles special situations:
- Crane mounting – Some customers mount the shear on a crane when rotation is not needed.
- Excavator boom mounting – For specific demolition configurations.
- Underwater use – With special corrosion protection (ceramic coating for saltwater environments).

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Some customers mount the shear on a crane when rotation is not needed. The document notes this as a special case.
Depends on usage. Cutting clean steel: longer life. Cutting abrasive or contaminated scrap: shorter life. The imported alloy steel blades resist wear and deformation.
No. The shear has its own rotation system – either collision or hydraulic. Your excavator provides hydraulic flow and pressure, but the rotation is built into the shear.
